It's like going home again to visit old friends. Katherine and Jake are moving to a country farmhouse while the attic is being renovated in the "pink lady". Their next door neighbor has been label as a "witch". She (Elizabeth (Lizzie)) is also a cat lover. Lizzie's husband disappeared years ago. Everyone says that she put a spell on him. The town's kids harass her and leave signs and symbols on the gate to her property.While this is going on, the director of the no-kill animal shelter is murdered right in front of her property. The first night in the cabin, Jake has to go out of town. Colleen stays with Katherine. All sorts of trouble breaks out. There is a scarecrow running amok. The new man in Lizzie's life beats her up and she runs to Katherine's farmhouse. The scarecrow had held Katz and Colleen hostage then ran away with Katz's gun. When Lizzie shows up, the man who beat her up shows up in a black ski mask. He holds Lizzie hostage making Katherine let them in the house. The man is looking for a key that was hidden in a rock by a shed. There has been illegal activity going on behind the back of the farmhouse's owner. It all comes to a head and then the end on this night. Who will live and who will die? The cats get out during the mayhem. Will they are be alright? Will they all be found? Read the book. I really like this series. Can't wait for the next one.

After a few chapters of "...Broke the Spell," it was obvious I somehow missed reading the book that came out before it, "The Cats that Stole a Million." I had it downloaded already, but completely spaced reading it (it's been a nutty year). Being much too OCD to finish Book #8 and then going back to its predecessor, I put it on hold and immediately got into #7. Great reads ...as usual... and I swept through them both in one day. What a fun and relaxing way to spend a Sunday! Thanks, Karen...you never disappoint.
This 8th installment of Karen Anne Golden's Cat Series was well worth the wait! I loved this story with all the character's Karen introduces us to. If course, you can't but fall in love with her cats. Murder, Drug Dealing, an illicit affair all tied together makes for delicious reading from a superb Author. A must read!
I've read The Cats That series and like this one the best...I think. However, I really enjoyed them all. The main characters are fully developed and familiar. This book resolves an ongoing saga from previous books and now clears the way for new experiences and excitement.
I recommend reading all the books in order.
while I'm not a cat person, these cats got to me. They are smart adorable felines. As always Karen Anne Golden has written a first rate mystery. You'll meet a few new people and learn just how strong love can be. I hope hope you'll give this book/series a try. You won't be disappointed.
I' m cat lover and owned by 2 cats , so this book and series is my cup of tea. In this one, Katz and her husband Jake are temporarily moving to a farmhouse while their attic is being converted into a home office. But criminals and cats cause all sorts of chaos for the couple. The ending is
thrilling and exciting.
Loved this book...but I didn't realize it was book 8 of the cozy mystery book series!! Next matter...the author briefly mentions past situations so I think it's ok to read out of sequence. I look forward to reading the other 7 books!! So get cozy and read them, especially if you are a cat lover like me!! Enjoy!!
Well I just finished the new book and I loved it. Now I'm back to waiting for the next one. I'll probably reread it in a week or so. I absolutely love these books and this one was fantastic. If you haven't read them you definitely need to.
